Hong Kong Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR)
For most short-term visitors, the PAR offers a convenient way to enter Hong Kong. When you complete your PAR, you'll receive an authorization that remains valid for six months from the application date. During this period, you can make multiple trips to Hong Kong, with each stay lasting up to 14 days.
Documents required to apply for the Hong Kong PAR:
- Passport, valid for at least 6 months
- Travel history (the latest five countries/regions visited within the past three years, if applicable)
Notes:
- Hong Kong SAR Immigration Department does not charge anything to issue PAR.
- If your passport is issued at Amritsar, Chandigarh, or Hyderabad, and you are travelling to Hong Kong for the first time, there is a high chance of PAR rejection. If your PAR is rejected, you will have to apply for the Hong Kong e-visa.
Hong Kong e-Visa
If you're planning to stay in Hong Kong for more than 14 days, an e-Visa is mandatory. Additionally, if your PAR application is unsuccessful, you'll need to pursue the e-Visa route. The Hong Kong Immigration Department carefully reviews each e-Visa application and determines two key aspects: whether to issue a single-entry or multiple-entry visa, and the duration of stay they'll authorize.
Documents required for Hong Kong e-visa:
- Passport, valid for at least 6 months
- Recent photograph
- Cover letter
- Employment information, salary slips for employed persons, and proof of business for self-employed individuals
- Latest ITR or Last 6 months' bank statement
- Flight tickets
Notes:
- e-visa can take up to 40 days to process, so you should apply according to the travel dates.
- The duration of the e-visa and the type of the e-visa (single-entry/multiple-entry) are decided by the Hong Kong immigration department.
